Rebecca Sherman Awarded 2022 ABA Forum on Construction Law Diversity Fellowship

LEXINGTON, Ky.—The American Bar Association (ABA) Forum on Construction Law has selected Stites & Harbison, PLLC attorney Rebecca M.W. Sherman for its 2022 Diversity Fellowship. Sherman is one of six nationwide honorees to receive the three-year fellowship.

The ABA Forum on Construction Law has over 6,000 members, with a mission to serve the construction industry through education and leadership. The Diversity Fellowship was created to encourage diverse construction lawyers to become active members and leaders of the Forum on Construction Law. The Forum awards six fellowships from the applications received each spring.

Fellowship recipients are invited to attend all Forum events, including the Forum’s Annual Meeting and the Fall and Midwinter Meetings. Fellows are also encouraged to join the steering committee of one the Forum’s 14 Divisions and are paired with a mentor that best fits their career or leadership goals.

Sherman is a Member (Partner) based in the firm’s Lexington office and is a member of the Construction Service Group. Her practice focuses on advising clients throughout all phases of construction projects including planning, contract drafting and negotiation, project administration and disputes. She represents owners, contractors and subcontractors in construction disputes and litigation. Additionally, Sherman routinely represents professional athletes and entertainers in contract negotiations, business advice and litigation matters.

Outside of the firm, Sherman is active in a variety of professional and civic organizations. She is the past president of the Fayette County Bar Association’s Young Lawyers’ Division, and currently serves on Leadership Lexington’s Steering and Alumni Association Committees, as well as the Board of Directors for the Lexington Humane Society. Additionally, she is a member of the Junior League of Lexington, co-chair of the Bluegrass Community Foundation’s BGCF365 Steering Committee and a member of LexArts’ Corporate Giving and Horse Mania Committees.
