Rebecca McKelvey Castañeda to receive Tennessee Bar Association’s Pro Bono Award
NASHVILLE, Tenn.—The Tennessee Bar Association (TBA) has selected Stites & Harbison, PLLC attorney Rebecca McKelvey Castañeda as the recipient of the Harris Gilbert Pro Bono Volunteer Award. This annual award is given to a private sector attorney who demonstrates dedication to legal services for the poor and provides significant pro bono work. Castañeda will be recognized for her pro bono activities and her service on the board of the Tennessee Justice Center at the 2015 Public Service Luncheon to be held in Nashville on January 10, 2015.
Castañeda is an attorney based in Stites & Harbison’s Nashville office. She practices primarily in the field of domestic relations, assisting with divorce, child custody, adoption, relocation, child support, and Hague Convention international child abduction cases.
Castañeda keeps active in the community beyond providing pro bono services. She serves as a referral attorney for International Child Abduction Attorney Network. She also served as a member of the Belmont University Young Alumni Council for three years and now serves as a member of Belmont University Alumni Board of Directors (immediate past president). She has been named on the “Rising Star” list of Mid-South Super Lawyers (2012-14) and as one of Nashville’s Top 30 Under 30 by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (2011). Castañeda earned J.D. from Mercer University Walter F. George School of Law in Macon, Georgia, and her undergraduate degree from Belmont University in Nashville.
