Kentucky Bicycle and Bikeway Commission re-elects Bill Gorton as chairman
LEXINGTON, Ky.—The Kentucky Bicycle and Bikeway Commission (KBBC) recently re-elected Stites & Harbison attorney Bill Gorton of Lexington, Ky., as chairman. He will serve a four-year term.
KBBC, composed of seven members, was established by the Kentucky Legislature to represent the interests of bicyclists in advising the Secretary of Transportation on all matters pertaining to bicycles, bikeways, and their use, extent and location. The commission also promotes the best interests of the bicycling public within Kentucky’s transportation system, as well as to governing officials and the public.
Bill Gorton is a member of Stites & Harbison. He is a member of the firm’s Environmental, Natural Resources and Energy Service Group and the Sustainability and Emerging Technologies Group. Outside of the firm, Gorton is an avid cyclist and spinning instructor at the Lexington YMCA. He also serves as pro bono counsel to Kentucky Rails to Trails Council, Inc., which develops abandoned rail beds into trails for recreational use. Gorton is admitted to practice in Kentucky and Pennsylvania.
