ATLANTA—Three Stites & Harbison attorneys in the Atlanta office were recently honored in the 2012 Georgia Super Lawyers magazine.

The attorneys named to the Super Lawyers list include: R. Daniel Douglass for the practice area of Construction/Surety, J.D. Humphries, III, for the practice area of Construction Litigation, and T. Matthew Mashburn for the practice area of Real Estate. All attorneys are members of Stites & Harbison and are admitted to practice in Georgia.

R. Daniel Douglass is a member of the Construction Service Group. He has significant experience handling complex construction disputes involving multiple parties and expert consultants. He has represented contractors, subcontractors, owners, design professionals and sureties on public and private construction projects throughout the United States. He is president of the Initiative for Affordable Housing Inc. board and is a member of the Garden Hills Civic Association.

J.D. Humphries is the Executive Member of the Atlanta office. He has substantial experience in addressing and resolving problems and issues through negotiation, mediation, arbitration and litigation. While a member of our Construction Service Group and working with general contractors, subcontractors, and developers, Humphries has served as corporate counsel and business advisor to numerous clients and has significant transactional, real estate and probate experience. His litigation and business practice have interfaced with organized labor as well as employment issues, including restrictive covenants. Humphries serves on the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce’s Advisory Board of Directors.

T. Matthew Mashburn is a member of the Real Estate & Banking Service Group. His practice is focused on banks, credit unions and financial institutions; commercial real property financing; real property sales and transfers; commercial real estate litigation; creditor’s rights; foreclosure; confirmation actions; and landlord and tenant law. He frequently holds seminars and workshops for his lender clients on diverse topics such as common retail banking and customer service issues, fraud prevention in deposit accounts, preventing mortgage fraud, compliance with the Protecting Tenants at Foreclosure Act of 2009 and preventing check fraud. He has been an instructor in the College of Continuing Education at Kennesaw State University for 22 years teaching Real Estate Law in the paralegal program. He also serves on the Board of Trustees for the College of Continuing Education at Kennesaw State University.
