Fayette County Bar Association Names Rebecca Sherman as Outstanding Young Lawyer for 2021

LEXINGTON, Ky.—The Fayette County Bar Association has recognized Stites & Harbison, PLLC attorney Rebecca M.W. Sherman with its Outstanding Young Lawyer Award for 2021. The award honors one member of the Fayette County Bar Association who has practiced less than 10 years, successfully fulfilled all duties of an attorney and demonstrated dedication to the justice system through involvement and enhancement of community life.

Sherman is a Member (Partner) based in Stites & Harbison’s Lexington, Ky., office and is a member of the Construction Service Group. She advises owners, developers, contractors and design professionals throughout all phases of construction projects, including planning, contract drafting and negotiation, project administration and disputes. Sherman is also co-chair of the firm’s Sports and Entertainment Group.

Outside of the firm, Sherman is active in both professional and civic organizations. She is the current past-president of the Fayette County Bar Association’s Young Lawyers’ Section and is a mentor through the Fayette County Women Lawyers Association. As for her civic contributions, Sherman serves on the Board of Directors for the Lexington Humane Society, the Steering Committee for Leadership Lexington and is co-chair of the Bluegrass Community Foundation’s BGCF 365. She is also a member of Leadership Lexington’s Alumni Association Board, LexArts’ Horse Mania and Corporate Giving Committees, and the Junior League of Lexington.

Sherman is a graduate of the University of Kentucky J. David Rosenburg College of Law and holds dual Bachelors of Science degrees in Psychology and Philosophy from the University of Kentucky.
