Delta State University Inducts Richard Myers into Alumni Hall of Fame

NASHVILLE, Tenn.—Delta State University’s Alumni Association recently inducted Stites & Harbison, PLLC attorney Richard S. Myers, Jr., into the university’s Alumni Hall of Fame. Myers was one of five alumni inducted this year during a ceremony held on November 10, 2023, at the Hugh Ellis Walker Alumni House in Cleveland, Miss.

According to Delta State University, the Alumni Hall of Fame honor is reserved for those alumni “who have achieved professional distinction and made significant community service contributions at the local, national and/or international level and who have thus brought honor and distinction to Delta State.”

Myers is a Member (Partner) and a Registered U.S. Patent Attorney based in the Nashville, Tenn. office. His practice focuses on patent-related aspects of intellectual property, including counseling clients on patent infringement, patent validity and patentability. He has more than two decades of experience with the patent prosecution process. As a former patent examiner and an attorney in the private sector, he has examined or prosecuted over 600 patent applications. With an academic background in chemistry, his practice primarily focuses on life sciences technology, including a wide variety of chemical and pharmaceutical arts.

Outside of the firm, Myers is active in a variety of professional and community organizations. He is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Tennessee Intellectual Property Law Association and the Association of University Technology Managers. He is a past Chair of the Tennessee Bar Association’s Intellectual Property Section. Myers also serves on the Delta State University Foundation’s Board of Directors and is a past President of its National Alumni Association.
