Betsy Johnson Appointed to American Health Law Association Leadership Role
LEXINGTON, Ky.—The American Health Law Association (AHLA) has appointed Stites & Harbison, PLLC attorney Elizabeth “Betsy” Johnson to serve as Vice Chair of its Post-Acute Long Term Services Practice Group, effective July 1, 2026. She will serve a three-year term.
AHLA is the nation’s largest nonpartisan educational organization devoted to legal issues in the health care field, serving more than 12,000 members nationwide. In her new role, Johnson will help shape AHLA’s educational programming and member engagement in post-acute long term care.
Johnson is a Member (Partner) based in Stites & Harbison’s Lexington, Ky., office. She concentrates her practice on all aspects of health care law, focusing on regulatory matters impacting both providers and payors. In her diverse career, she has served in both legal and policy roles in state government and the private sector. On behalf of governmental agencies and while in the private sector, she successfully advocated for the passage of legislation impacting health care by testifying before numerous legislative committees and meeting with members of the Kentucky legislature and members of Congress. Johnson has spent her career building and maintaining relationships with individuals on both the state and national level.
Besides AHLA, Johnson stays active in a variety of professional and community organizations. She is a member of the American Bar Association’s Health Law Section and the Kentucky Bar Association. She serves on the board of directors of the Carnegie Center for Literacy & Learning and the Kentucky Nonprofit Network. Additionally, she is a member of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Human Rights Commission.
