Terry L. Wright

Serving as Chair of the Intellectual Property & Technology Group at the firm, Terry Wright is a Registered Patent Attorney whose practice focuses on designing and implementing intellectual property protection strategies. Terry has extensive experience advising clients ranging from small, privately held companies to multi-national, publicly traded companies. He regularly prepares protection plans for intellectual property associated with consumer goods, medical and other mechanical devices, and life sciences-associated technologies. As part of his practice, Terry routinely focuses on multiple areas of intellectual property protection, including trademark and copyright issues, licensing agreements, and patent-related aspects of intellectual property, such as patent drafting, patent prosecution and counseling clients on infringement, validity and patentability.

Contributing to his practice is a background in life sciences and chemistry, with academic research experience in the areas of cardiovascular biology, molecular and cellular biology, pharmacology, and biotechnology. He also maintains a vast understanding of the mechanical arts and material sciences, including the underlying processes, reactions, and chemical interactions associated with the material sciences field.

Recent Assignments

Counseled companies and Technology Transfer and Licensing Offices of various Universities regarding strategies for protecting patent-based intellectual property.

Developed a comprehensive patent protection strategy that protected multiple new product lines for a leading visco-elastic foam bedding manufacturer.

Assisted various research institutions and private and publicly traded companies in establishing and managing international patent portfolios involving applications and patents in regions and countries including Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Europe, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, New Zealand, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Assisted a large plastic film manufacturer in developing and implementing appropriate patent strategies to protect new thermoplastic film products, preparation methods, and related equipment.
