Patrick M. Torre is a Registered Patent Attorney in Stites & Harbison, PLLC’s Intellectual Property & Technology Services Group, Lexington office, and is admitted to practice law in Kentucky and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. His practice focuses on intellectual property protection strategy, including counseling clients on issues of infringement, validity, and patentability, patent drafting, prosecution, and appellate proceedings, trademark prosecution, trade secrets and transfer, and intellectual property licensing.
Pat holds Ph.D. and Master’s degrees in Animal Science from the University of Tennessee. Prior to entering the practice of law, he worked in academic research in the areas of animal science, life science, biotechnology, and the intersection of immunology and nutrition. He completed post-doctoral appointments at the USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging (now the Jean Meyer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging) at Tufts University, Boston MA and at the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture, Department of Animal Science. After completing law school at the University of Kentucky and prior to entering private practice, he served as in-house IP counsel at Alltech, Inc. in Nicholasville, Kentucky. Pat has over 20 years of legal experience in representing a wide range of clients, including individual inventors, start-ups, University tech transfer offices, and major corporations.
