With a Ph.D. in chemistry and a foundation as a professional chemist in the Boston area, Kim Vines brings a scientist’s perspective to intellectual property law. For more than a decade as an attorney, Kim has guided innovators—universities, start-ups, mid-size pharmaceuticals, top 10 chemical producers, and Fortune 50 companies—through complex patent strategies, bridging science and law to help innovators protect and commercialize their ideas efficiently and strategically.
Kim thrives on drafting and prosecuting patents in the U.S. and abroad and believes that preparing non-infringement and invalidity opinions sharpens skills as a patent drafter and advocate. Beyond client work, Kim is passionate about advancing the profession through scholarship, serving as an editor for AIPLA’s Chemical Practice Chronicles and publishing articles in Law360 and The Patent Lawyer Newsletter.
