Andrew G. Beshear is a Member of the firm trusted by clients in a diverse practice that includes litigation, business and finance, non-profit, environmental, and economic development work.  "Andy" strives to bring added value to each of the firm's clients by not only providing them strong representation, but also identifying business and other opportunities for them in the community.

Andrew's litigation practice includes general litigation, administrative law, antitrust defense, environmental law and professional liability defense. In his business and finance work, Andy represents start-ups, utilities, banks, manufacturers, healthcare providers, transportation companies and international distributors.  In the economic development field, he works on large-scale industrial development and relocation projects.

Recent Assignments

  • As lead trial counsel, secured $11.4 million unanimous jury verdict for business client, the largest jury verdict ever rendered in that jurisdiction
  • Lead counsel in location, financing, construction and operation of the first Indian manufacturing facility ever built in the United States
  • Successfully defended clients from Attorney General complaints, either securing dismissal or favorable negotiated resolutions 
  • Successfully defended international products distributor and negotiated multi-million dollar agreements between distributor and primary manufacturer
  • Challenged and secured favorable administrative rulings on multi-million dollar technology and service contracts
  • As trial counsel, secured favorable ruling in challenge of PSD air permit
  • Successfully defended second request hospital merger challenge by Federal Trade Commission
  • Successfully defended transportation company against arguments seeking to enlarge the scope of its insurance obligations under Kentucky law
  • Secured numerous summary judgment and favorable appellate rulings from 2005-2012 in contract, tort, and malpractice cases in both state and federal court

Andy is deeply involved in his community, serving on the Board of Overseers at the University of Louisville, the Board of Directors for Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky and the Board of Directors for the Kentucky Governor's Scholars Program. Andy previously served on the Louisville Arena Authority and as the co-chair of Louisville's Host Committee for the 2010 FEI World Equestrian Games, the largest sporting event held in the United States during 2010. He has also served on various boards including the Board of Trustees at Spalding University, the Louisville Zoo's Glacier Run Project, the Louisville Science Center, and the Audit Committee of Greater Louisville, Inc., Louisville's Chamber of Commerce. He is also active in state and local politics.

Andy was selected as one of Business First of Louisville's "Forty Under 40" for 2010. The newspaper's annual listing highlights professional and business leaders who are making a significant mark on the community.
