NASHVILLE, Tenn.—Stites & Harbison, PLLC veteran attorney Robert N. Buchanan III has been elected to a two-year term as president of the Tennessee Historical Society.
Buchanan concentrates on real estate law, representing a NYSE-listed REIT, mortgage lenders, landlords and tenants of commercial properties. He also represents a major corporate healthcare company in its leasing activity.
He previously served as a director for the Tennessee Historical Society, a nonprofit organization founded in 1849 that promotes interest and preservation of all matters relating to the history of Tennessee. Buchanan is the society’s 34th president.
The society publishes the Tennessee Historical Quarterly and sponsors a statewide History Day competition for junior and senior high school students, and other lectures and programs. The society’s artifact, manuscript, image and publication collections represent more than 150 years of preserving the state’s history. The organization also provides the free online reference website, The Tennessee Encyclopedia.
Buchanan received a bachelor of science in pre-med from Davidson College and a J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School.
