Morgan Ward Appointed as Chair of Landmarks and Preservation Districts Commission

LOUISVILLE, Ky.—Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer has appointed Stites & Harbison, PLLC attorney Morgan Ward as Chair of Louisville Metro Government’s Historic Landmarks and Preservation Districts Commission. Ward has served on the commission since 2019, and his term as Chair began in January 2021.
The Historic Landmarks and Preservation Districts Commission serves to preserve and protect the city’s historic and architectural resources. Members of the Landmarks Commission, along with the Architectural Review Committees, manage the review of all exterior alterations, demolition and new construction within the city’s six designated preservation districts and 96 landmarked buildings.
Ward is a Member (Partner) in the Business Litigation Service Group based in Louisville. His practice focuses on business litigation, real estate litigation, trust and estates disputes, regulatory litigation, constitutional law, insurance coverage litigation, trial practice, arbitration, mediation, and appellate practice. Ward has tried numerous cases to jury and bench verdicts, argued cases before the Kentucky Supreme Court and Kentucky Court of Appeals, and appeared in the United States Supreme Court.
Outside of the firm, Ward serves the community in multiple ways. He is a member of the Board of Directors for the Legal Aid Society, a former Trustee for the Olmsted Parks Conservancy, a former director of the Louisville Bar Association, and a current member of the LBA’s Committee on Judicial Independence and Integrity. In addition, Ward coordinates much of the firm’s pro-bono work in the Louisville office, and has been recognized twice as an Outstanding Volunteer Lawyer by the Legal Aid Society.
