by Stites & Harbison, PLLC

ALEXANDRIA, Va.—Lawyers of Color Magazine has named attorney Michael K. Kim of Stites & Harbison’s Alexandria, Va., office, as one of 100 early- to mid-career minority attorneys under 40 from the Mid-Atlantic Region to its inaugural 2013 Hot List. Honorees will be profiled in the Hot List Special Issue (July 2013).

Recently Michael Kim was also named to the 2013 Virginia Super Lawyers’ Rising Stars list.

Lawyers of Color selected the Hot List honorees through a two-pronged process. The selection committee, comprised of editorial staff and advisors, spent months reviewing nominations and researching bar publications as well as legal blogs in order to identify candidates. Nominations were accepted from mentors, peers and colleagues. Editorial picks were also made based on research of attorneys who had noteworthy accomplishments or were active in legal pipeline initiatives.

Michael K. Kim is an attorney with Stites & Harbison and a member of the Business Litigation Service Group. His practice encompasses a wide range of complex business and commercial litigation matters, including contract disputes, business torts, corporate governance and control matters, shareholder disputes and derivative actions, fiduciary duty litigation, trade secrets litigation, class actions, and intellectual property litigation. He is admitted to practice in Virginia and Kentucky.

Lawyers of Color, which was initially founded as “On Being A Black Lawyer,” has been recognized by the American Bar Association, National Black Law Students Association, and the National Association of Black Journalists.
