Litigation Associate* - Jeffersonville, Indiana office (on-site)

Stites & Harbison, PLLC, a full-service law firm with 11 offices in six states, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Litigation Attorney to join our team in Jeffersonville, IN. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in general civil litigation or litigation involving financial institutions.

Job Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active and in good standing license to practice law in Indiana.
  • 3- 5 years of experience in civil litigation, with a track record of successful outcomes.
  • Expertise in managing a portfolio of complex litigation cases.
  • Experience with all phases of litigation, including case evaluation, discovery, and trial preparation.
  • Experience with legal research, writing, and analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts to clients and team members.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and make sound legal judgments.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of complex litigation cases.
  • Develop and execute case strategy, including case evaluation, discovery, and trial preparation.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery requests.
  • Work with litigation support staff to prepare cases for trial.
  • Represent clients in court, including arguing motions and conducting direct and cross-examinations.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and team members on complex legal issues.
  • Communicate regularly with clients, keeping them informed of legal developments and advising them on legal risks and opportunities.
  • Stay up to date with relevant legal developments and industry trends.

Construction Associate* - Lexington, Ky. office

Stites & Harbison, PLLC, a full-service law firm that maintains a sophisticated national construction practice, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented attorney with at least two years of experience interested in joining our Construction Service Group team. With a strong emphasis on transactional work, we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional legal services to our clients in the construction industry. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with experience or an interest in construction law to advance their career in a supportive and collaborative environment. The associate will primarily work with a group based in the firm’s Lexington, Kentucky office.

The position involves contract negotiations and related transactional work could also include some litigation opportunities, depending on the firm’s needs and applicant’s interest. Interested candidates should possess a strong academic background and have excellent research, writing, analytical, and communication skills. A background in engineering, architecture, or the construction industry is not required but will be considered (if applicable).

Responsibilities include:

Creditors’ Rights & Bankruptcy Associate - Louisville, Ky. office

Stites & Harbison’s Creditors’ Rights & Bankruptcy Service Group seeks an associate with 1 to 5 years of experience to join the firm’s Louisville office. The associate will focus on creditor litigation in bankruptcy and state courts – often having overlap in real estate and business matters as well as regional and national collection matters.

The successful candidate can expect regular client interaction and courtroom appearances.

Only attorneys admitted to practice in Kentucky, and admitted or willing to become admitted in Indiana, will be considered.

Real Estate Associate* - Lexington office

Stites & Harbison, PLLC, a full-service law firm with 11 offices in six states, has an opportunity for a real estate associate with 2-5 years of experience to join the firm’s Lexington office.

The successful candidate will have excellent academic credentials and a demonstrated interest in transactional work.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft and negotiate commercial leases, purchase agreements, and other real estate contracts.
  • Advise clients on real estate financing and investment opportunities.
  • Conduct due diligence, review title reports and surveys, and handle closing transactions.
  • Assist clients with zoning and land use issues.

Patent Associate* - Louisville, Ky. office

Our Louisville office has an opening for an entry-level patent associate in our Intellectual Property and Technology Service Group. Attorneys with one to three years of experience will also be considered.

The successful candidate will have a technical background, already taken the patent bar, and possess excellent academic credentials as well as strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
