Southern gaming powerhouses will likely remain on the sidelines as larger casino states take a leadership role on internet gaming in the U.S., according to regulators and executives at this week's Southern Gaming Summit in Biloxi, Mississippi.

Despite the high-profile crackdown on leading online poker sites three weeks ago, the consensus among executives and other gambling professionals at this week's Southern Gaming Summit is that the legalization of Internet Gaming in the United States is still a matter of when - not if.
