LOUISVILLE, Ky.—Stites & Harbison is pleased to announce that attorney Joseph M. Ruschell has joined the firm’s Lexington office. Mr. Ruschell joins the firm as a transactional attorney focusing on corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions and general corporate law.

Prior to joining Stites & Harbison, Mr. Ruschell practiced law with Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz in New York where he worked with public companies, financial institutions and private equity clients.  While there, he represented a client in its $3.1 billion acquisition of independent and assisted living communities and another client in its $1.4 billion acquisition of a portfolio company from a private equity seller.  He also represented borrowers in public securities offerings and private placement of senior notes, as well as underwriters in public securities offerings.

Mr. Ruschell earned his Juris Doctor from the Columbia University School of Law in New York in 2008 and his Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Economics from the University of Kentucky, where he graduated summa cum laude, in 2004.
