NASHVILLE, Tenn.—Stites & Harbison welcomes attorney Matthew J. DeVriesto the Nashville office.  DeVries joins the firm as a member and will lead the firm’s construction presence in Tennessee.  He works in the firm’s Construction Service Group, the Business Litigation Service Group and the Green Law Practice Group.  He is a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Accredited Professional.

DeVries’s practice focuses primarily on construction and business litigation.  He represents contractors, subcontractors, design-builders, owners, developers and design professionals.  DeVries is the founder of www.bestpracticesconstructionlaw.com, a construction-related blog that receives more than 4,000 unique visitors per month. 

Prior to joining Stites & Harbison, DeVries worked more than 10 years at two construction boutique law firms.  He earned his J.D. from the University of Richmond School of Law, Richmond, Va., in 1998.  He graduated from American University, Washington, D.C., in 1993 with a B.A. in Political Science. 

Outside of the firm, DeVries is active in both professional and community organizations, including the American, Tennessee and Nashville Bar Associations; Associated General Contractors of Middle Tennessee (Construction Leadership Council board member); Scribes Society of Writers on Legal Subjects; National Exchange Club, Downtown Nashville (board member); and Lambscroft Ministries (board member).
