Stites & Harbison names five new members

LOUISVILLE, Ky.—Stites & Harbison, PLLC, announced today that five attorneys have been elected to membership in the law firm, effective Jan. 1, 2010.  The new members are: Christy A. Ames, Andrew G. Beshear, and Brian H. Meldrum from the Louisville, Ky., office; Cassidy Ruschell Rosenthal from the Lexington, Ky., office and James (“Randy”) Michels from the Nashville, Tenn., office.

Christy A. Ames is a member of the firm’s Business Litigation Service Group.  Her practice includes general litigation with a focus on residential mortgage litigation. In addition, she advises clients on issues that pertain to mortgage lenders, brokers, and other financial institutions, including compliance with federal and state laws relating to mortgage lending and brokering, licensing, do-not call issues, disclosures, the Fair Labor Standards Act as it applies to the mortgage banking industry and privacy.  Ames is admitted to practice in Kentucky and Indiana. 

Andrew G. Beshear is a member of the firm’s Business Litigation Service Group and is admitted to practice in Kentucky and the District of Columbia.  His practice includes general litigation, antitrust defense, administrative law, and economic development work.  He also works on complex litigation managing large-scale discovery and electronic discovery.  He is a member of the electronic discovery team and advises clients as to the requirements and process of electronic discovery.

Brian H. Meldrum is a member of the firm’s Creditors’ Rights & Bankruptcy Service Group.  His practice focuses on creditors’ rights, corporate bankruptcy and restructuring, business and commercial litigation, and complex judgment enforcement and collection.  He regularly represents lenders, trade creditors, landlords, creditors’ committees, examiners and bankruptcy trustees in large or complex bankruptcy matters.  In addition, Meldrum represents corporate clients in civil litigation in state and federal courts around the country.  He is admitted to practice in Kentucky and Illinois.
 
Cassidy Ruschell Rosenthal is a member of the Construction Service Group and is admitted to practice in Kentucky.  Her practice focuses on construction litigation and transactions and general business litigation.  Specifically, she represents owners, contractors, subcontractors, construction managers, design professionals and suppliers in construction matters including construction defect and payment disputes.  She also advises and assists clients with contract negotiations and drafting.

Randy Michels is a member of the firm’s Intellectual Property & Technology Service Group.  His practice is focused on the litigation of patent, copyright and trademark matters. He has experience representing plaintiffs and defendants in various phases of litigation, from pre-trial investigations through appeals.  In addition to litigation, Michels advises clients in connection with the selection, clearance, registration, maintenance and protection of trademarks.  He also helps clients recover domain names that have been pirated.  Michels is admitted to practice in Tennessee.
