U.S. Green Building Council, Member
LOUISVILLE, Ky.—Stites & Harbison attorneys Stephen Allen, Jamie Cox, Christina Davidow, Jennifer Drust and Lauran Sturm have recently earned their LEED Accredited Professional (AP) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). As a result, there are now seven LEED AP attorneys at Stites & Harbison.

The USGBC is a non-profit organization whose goal is to make green buildings available to everyone within a generation. To help accomplish this mission, the USGBC created the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System, which measures the "greenness" of a building and verifies actual compliance with claims of the green elements in that building. One aspect of this rating system is the involvement of an accredited professional in the design and building process. LEED APs demonstrate thorough understanding of green building practices and principles of the LEED Green Building Rating System, as well as the ability to apply those practices, principles and standards to the design and building process. LEED certification is given to buildings that meet certain criteria on energy and water efficiency, reduction in waste, and a healthy environment for its occupants.

Stephen Allen and Jennifer Drust are based in Stites & Harbison's Lexington, Ky., office. Allen, who has a B.S. in Mining Engineering, is a member of the firm while Drust is an associate of the firm. Jamie Cox and Lauran Sturm are both associates of the firm based in the Louisville, Ky., office. Christina Davidow is an associate based in the Nashville, Tenn., office. Cox is a member of the Real Estate & Banking Service Group while the remaining attorneys are members of the Environmental, Natural Resources & Energy Service Group.

The other two Stites & Harbison attorneys with LEED AP credentials include J. Spencer Harmon, counsel with the firm based in Jeffersonville, Ind., and Angela Stephens, associate with the firm based in Louisville, Ky. Harmon is a member of the Real Estate & Banking Service Group while Stephens is a member of the Construction Law Service Group and has a B.S. in Civil Engineering. Stites & Harbison is a member of the USGBC.
