LOUISVILLE, Ky.—
Governor Steve Beshear has appointed Stites & Harbison attorney Alfred S. Joseph, III, to serve on the Kentucky Oral History Commission. Joseph's term will run through February 15, 2013.

The Kentucky Oral History Commission is a nationally recognized program that has provided for the collection of more than 25,000 oral history interviews. The organization reaches across the state to record and preserve the diverse stories that are a part of Kentucky's rich and colorful history.

Joseph, who joined Stites & Harbison in 1983, is a member of the firm's Real Estate & Banking Service Group and is nationally recognized in the real estate community, with a listing in the real estate and land use sections of The Best Lawyers in America® 2009. The 2005 edition of Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business refers to Joseph as "the dean of real estate in Kentucky and a go-to person for any complex real estate question." He is also a fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, where he has served as a member of the Board of Governors (1998-2001) and currently serves as a member of the Insurance Committee.

Last December Joseph received the 2008 Commercial REACH Award from the Kentucky Chapter of the March of Dimes. The award was in recognition of his contributions to commercial real estate and to the community.
