Carol Dan Browning inducted as Fellow of American College of Trial Lawyers

LOUISVILLE, Ky.—The American College of Trial Lawyers (ACTL) recently inducted Stites & Harbison attorney Carol Dan Browning as a Fellow. The induction ceremony took place in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, before an audience of nearly 600 during the 2009 Spring Meeting of the College. Browning is a member of the Louisville, Ky., office of Stites & Harbison.
"Given ACTL's stringent selection process, this is a great honor for Carol and our trial practice," said Kennedy Helm III, chairman of Stites & Harbison. "The firm is now privileged to have eight Fellows of the College." Charles J. (Mike) Cronan IV, Douglass Farnsley, John L. Tate and Lively M. Wilson are Fellows from the Louisville, Ky., office; John M. Famularo and Ben L. Kessinger Jr. are Fellows from the Lexington, Ky., office; and Charles H. Warfield is a Fellow from the Nashville, Tenn., office.
Founded in 1950, ACTL (www.actl.com) is composed of the best of the trial bar from the United States and Canada. Fellowship in the College is extended by invitation only and only after careful investigation, to those experienced trial lawyers who have mastered the art of advocacy and whose professional careers have been marked by the highest standards of ethical conduct, professionalism, civility and collegiality. Lawyers must have a minimum of 15 years of trial experience before they can be considered for Fellowship. Qualified lawyers are called to Fellowship in the College from all branches of trial practice. Membership in the College cannot exceed 1% of the total lawyer population of any state or province. There are currently more than 5,000 members in the United States and Canada.
Browning is a member of Stites & Harbison's Torts & Insurance Practice Group. Her practice includes drug and medical device litigation, products liability and medical malpractice defense. She is listed in The Best Lawyers in America® 2007-2009 and the 2008 Kentucky Super Lawyers magazine, where she is also listed among the Top 25 Women Lawyers in the state. She has also been named a "Litigation Star" by Benchmark: Litigation Magazine, 2009. She is a member of numerous professional organizations including the Defense Research Institute and the International Association of Defense Counsel where she is active on committees within both organizations. Outside of the firm, Browning serves on the board of directors of the Louisville Ballet. She is admitted to practice in Kentucky, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th, 8th and 9th Circuits. In addition, she holds pro hac vice admission in several jurisdictions.
