LOUISVILLE, Ky.—Yesterday the Greater Kentucky Chapter of the March of Dimes presented Stites & Harbison attorney Alfred S. Joseph, III, with the 2008 Commercial REACH Award.  Joseph, counsel with Stites & Harbison in Louisville, Ky., was recognized by a blue ribbon committee of real estate professionals for his contributions to commercial real estate and to the community.  He is the first attorney to receive the award which was presented at the 8th annual March of Dimes Commercial REACH Awards Breakfast at Churchill Downs.

Joseph, who joined the Stites & Harbison in 1983, focuses on complex development projects, affordable housing, commercial financing transactions, general real estate law, zoning and insurance.  He is a member of the firm's Real Estate & Banking Service Group and has been listed in the real estate section of all editions of The Best Lawyers in America®.  Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business has referred to him as "the dean of real estate" in Kentucky.  In addition, he was the first Kentucky lawyer listed in the real estate section of The International Who's Who of Business Lawyers.  He is also a member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, where he has served as a member of the Board of Governors (1998-2001). 

Joseph's work in the community is extensive.  Currently he is a board member of the Louisville Free Public Library Foundation, University Medical Center, Inc. and the Jewish Community Federation of Louisville.  He has served as president of the Legal Aid Society of Louisville and the Jewish Community Federation of Louisville, as well as a member of a wide range of other community boards, including the Louisville Downtown Development Corporation, Louisville and Jefferson County Regional Criminal Justice Commission, and Jefferson County Comprehensive Land Use Plan Committee.
