LEXINGTON, Ky.—Governor Steve Beshear recently appointed Stites & Harbison attorney J. David Porter to the Western Kentucky University Board of Regents.  The Board of Regents is responsible for establishing the policies of the university.  Porter will serve a six-year term on this board.

Porter is a member of Stites & Harbison and chair of the Trusts & Estate Planning/Domestic Service Group.  His practice focuses on trusts and estates, estate planning, probate and fiduciary law.  He is admitted to practice in Kentucky, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Federal and 6th Circuits, and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky.  Porter is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel.

Besides serving on WKU's Board of Regents, Porter also serves as a board member of the Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra Foundation, Lexington Medical Society Foundation and Lexington Public Library Foundation, Inc.  He is past vice chair and Finance Committee chair of the Kentucky Council on Higher Education, the predecessor to the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education.
