Who Should Attend

  • Anyone who works with tax issues

Seminar Overview

Persistent revenue shortfalls and an unwillingness on the part of state legislatures to consider increasing tax rates or expanding the tax base have led states to become more aggressive in identifying sources of potential revenue available under existing laws.  It is important for businesses to understand how best to operate within this climate of increased audit and enforcement pressure.  This presentation will offer businesses strategies for minimizing their tax obligations in three areas:  (1) managing audits; (2) protesting assessments; and (3) negotiating with taxing jurisdictions.  The presentation will also offer an update on Kentucky tax policy with an emphasis on potential tax reform measures that might be introduced in the General Assembly.

What to Expect

Thirsty Thursdays are networking events which take place the fourth Thursday of every month from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. on the 20th floor of Stites' Louisville office.  The program starts off with a half-hour of networking, with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, followed by a short presentation and more networking.
