Seminar Overview

Panelists:

  • Sean Alteri, Assistant Director of Division for Air Quality
    Sean Alteri, a 14-year veteran with the Division for Air Quality (DAQ), serves as the Assistant Director of DAQ.  During his tenure at DAQ, he has served as an Environmental Engineer Assistant in both the Permit Review and Emissions Inventory Sections and Environmental Control Supervisor for the Regulation Development Section in the Program Planning Branch.  Prior to becoming the Assistant Director, Mr. Alteri also served as the Environmental Control Manager of the Technical Services Branch.  His experience with various programmatic functions of the Division provides him with the tools necessary to understand and prepare for the many complex challenges related to air quality.  In 1997, Mr. Alteri received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Kentucky.
  • Colin Campbell, Principal, RTP Environmental Associates, Inc.
    Mr. Campbell is a principal and manager of the North Carolina office of RTP Environmental Associates, Inc.  He has been working as a consultant in Clean Air Act permitting and compliance matters since 1991 and has been with RTP since 1997.  His practice includes helping industrial clients to meet Clean Air Act regulatory requirements, particularly the requirements of the Prevention of Significant Deterioration ("PSD") and New Source Review ("NSR") permitting programs; providing training to the regulated community, State permitting authorities, and U.S. EPA personnel in implementing PSD/NSR programs; and assisting State permitting authorities in implementing these programs.  He regularly provides expert testimony regarding the PSD and NSR programs.  He holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering and in Economics from North Carolina State University.
  • Ken Gish, Stites & Harbison, PLLC
    Ken is a member of the Environmental, Natural Resources and Energy Service Group at Stites, where his practice focuses on complex facility permitting, renewable and alternative energy development, sustainability, hazardous waste remediation, compliance with regulatory requirements and environmental litigation.  Ken represents the firm's clients in all stages of the permitting process from application to appeals before administrative bodies and in state and federal court.  Ken also assists clients in managing regulatory compliance matters arising from federal, state and local laws.  Ken has recently represented the project developer of a 700 MW coal gasification to natural gas project against challenges to the project's PSD and Title V air permits.
  • Anne Gorham, Stites & Harbison, PLLC - Moderator
    Anne is a member and former Chair of the Construction Service Group, member of the firm’s Management Committee, and Co-Chair of the Lexington Office Recruiting Committee.  Anne's practice focuses entirely on the construction industry.  She represents contractors, design-builders, owners, developers and design professionals.  She provides advice to project participants prior to commencement of the project, and resolves problems arising either during the project or post-project completion.  She has been involved with projects that range from industrial and commercial distribution centers, pipeline construction and chemical manufacturing facilities to highway construction and energy production facilities including coal gasification and biomass.

The panel discussion will start at 2:00 p.m. and will close with a time for questions.  Immediately following the presentation, there will be networking with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres.
