Matthew is a member of the Business Litigation and Creditors' Rights & Bankruptcy Service Groups and is located in the Nashville office. He represents and advises clients in the areas of business and commercial litigation, bankruptcy and financial restructuring, and commercial transactions.
Matthew's experience includes the representation of banking institutions, insurance companies, healthcare companies, and other business entities and individuals regarding complex disputes and litigation, contract and property disputes, creditors' rights in bankruptcy cases and general business litigation and advice.
Before Stites & Harbison
Prior to attending law school, Matthew worked for several years with the Tennessee General Assembly, including serving as Press Secretary for the Majority Caucus of the Tennessee House of Representatives from 2001-2005. He received his B.A., summa cum laude with University Honors, from Lipscomb University, majoring in political science and French; his M.P.A. from Tennessee State University; and his J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School, where he was a member of the Moot Court Board. Matthew joined Stites & Harbison after serving as an associate in the Nashville office of Frost Brown Todd since his graduation from law school.
More Than Stites & Harbison
Matthew currently serves as a board member on the Junior Board of the American Cancer Society of Nashville and formerly served as board member and Vice President for the Phoenix Club of Nashville, a fundraising partner with the Boys and Girls Club of Middle Tennessee. Matthew serves on the Nashville Bar Association's Young Lawyers Division board, the Tennessee Bar Association Young Lawyers Division Mock Trial Committee, and is a member of the American, Tennessee and Nashville Bar Associations and the American Bankruptcy Institute.
