Michael Kim is an Associate in the Alexandria office. He is a member of the Business Litigation Service Group and the Class Action Practice Group. Michael's practice encompasses a wide range of business and commercial litigation matters, including class action, real property and intellectual property litigation.
Recent Assignments
- Successfully defended the manager of two Virginia limited liability companies before the American Arbitration Association against claims asserted by members of the two companies seeking the removal of the manager for alleged material breaches of the companies’ operating agreements and bad faith.
- Obtained preliminary injunction on behalf of government contracting company specializing in providing information technology services to the federal government against former employee who had stolen and posted the government contractor’s trade secrets on the former employee’s website. Successfully settled case with consent injunction prohibiting former employee from using or posting the contractor’s trade secrets.
- Member of team that defeated certification of class and collective action claims in Fair Labor Standards Act and state wage and hour suit
- Member of team that defeated certification of class action claims involving interest crediting practices for fixed deferred annuities
- Currently assisting in the defense of numerous class actions

Before Stites & Harbison
Michael joined Stites & Harbison in September 2007, after participating in the firm's summer associate program in 2006. During the summer of 2005, he was an intern at the University of Miami Children & Youth Law Clinic, representing foster children in dependency hearings. In the Spring of 2007, Michael was a Certified Legal Intern at the Miami Public Defender's Office. Prior to law school, Michael worked as a technology consultant.
