James A. Budd is Counsel to Stites & Harbison and practices in the areas of capital markets, financial institutions and real estate.
Mr. Budd's finance practice centers on the representation of commercial lenders in connection with conduit, mezzanine and multi-property portfolio loans, as well as sale/leaseback financings. Such work involves closing commercial real estate loans to be securitized, as well as due diligence review in connection with the offering of commercial mortgage-backed securities. In addition, he has experience negotiating and documenting other types of financings including construction loans, acquisition loans, and agent representation in syndicated financings.
Mr. Budd also has extensive experience representing commercial real estate developers (including Real Estate Investment Trusts) in connection with the acquisition, development, leasing and disposition of projects for office, industrial, retail and multifamily use throughout the United States.
Recent Assignments
Mr. Budd serves as counsel to both Wall Street banks and private equity firms. Since 2006 he has closed conduit loans totaling in excess of $1 billion and has assisted in the securitization of loans totaling in excess of $13 billion.
Before Stites & Harbison
Prior to joining Stites & Harbison, Mr. Budd was Of Counsel in the Real Estate/Finance Practice Group of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough, LLP. Prior to that, he was an associate in the Real Estate/Finance Practice Group of Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker, LLP in Atlanta.
Besides Stites & Harbison
Outside the office, James is an avid runner, having competed in the Columbus, Ohio marathon. In addition, he is an Ohio State Buckeyes fan.
