Bruce B. Paul is an associate in the Torts & Insurance Practice Group and the Title Insurance Defense practice group. He has a broad range of experience representing businesses in commercial disputes and personal injury claims. Bruce also has experience representing governmental entities and non-profit organizations on governance issues.  He is listed as a 2009 Rising Star by Indiana Super Lawyers magazine.

Recent Assignments

  • Counsel for a local town's redevelopment commission, which established an economic development area and tax increment financing district.
  • Counsel to local and national businesses on municipal planning and zoning issues. In this capacity, he successfully represented a major hotel company at trial over an adverse party's appeal of a favorable zoning decision.
  • Represents financial institutions in complex real estate litigation involving claims of unlawful lending practices.
  • Represents financial institutions, property owners, and contractors in real estate litigation involving lien priority.
  • Counsel for an international prison management corporation on numerous matters, including the defense of civil rights lawsuits.
  • Assists in the defense of manufacturers in product liability litigation.
  • Vast experience defending counterclaims, crossclaims, and third-party complaints against financial institutions and mortgage servicers arising out of complex foreclosure actions.

Before Stites & Harbison

Before joining Stites & Harbison as an associate, Bruce served as a field representative to Indiana Congressman Baron Hill, 1999 to 2004. As a field representative, Bruce assisted local communities and organizations in securing federal appropriations and grants. He also worked on economic development projects involving federal investment.

More Than Stites & Harbison

Bruce volunteers for the Louisville Legal Aid Society and serves on One Southern Indiana's Public Policy committee. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Personal Counseling Service, Inc.

Besides Stites & Harbison

Bruce stays in shape by chasing his twin toddlers and Boston Terrier. Bruce and his wife are also avid Indiana University fans who, despite the program's history, remain optimistic about the football team's bowl hopes.
