Bruce B. Paul is an associate in the Torts & Insurance Practice Group and the Title Insurance Defense practice group. He has a broad range of experience representing businesses in commercial disputes and personal injury claims. Bruce also has experience representing governmental entities and non-profit organizations on governance issues.  He is listed as a 2009, 2011 and 2012 Rising Star by Indiana Super Lawyers magazine.

Representative Matters

  • Obtained summary judgment for national lender and loan servicer on counterclaims of unfair lending.
  • Lead counsel to a national apartment developer at the successful trial of a utility dispute with municipality.  Favorable outcome was affirmed on appeal in the published opinion City of Jeffersonville v. Hallmark at Jeffersonville, L.P., 937 N.E.2d 402 (Ind. Ct. App. 2011).
  • Obtained numerous summary judgments and dismissals of Section 1983 Civil Rights lawsuits against prison management company and prison food service company.
  • First chair in a trial of a commercial dispute between members of a limited liability company.
  • Assists in the drafting and coordinating of discovery, protective orders, joint defense agreements, and dispositive motions in multi-jurisdictional complex product liability litigation.

Before Stites & Harbison

Before joining Stites & Harbison as an associate, Bruce served as a field representative to Indiana Congressman Baron Hill, 1999 to 2004. As a field representative, Bruce assisted local communities and organizations in securing federal appropriations and grants. He also worked on economic development projects involving federal investment.

Bruce volunteers for the Louisville Legal Aid Society and serves on One Southern Indiana's board of directors and public policy committee.

Besides Stites & Harbison

Bruce's love for good food forces him to spend a lot of time running, cycling, swimming, and playing tennis.  Bruce also remains interested in politics and joins his wife and twin children in cheering on Indiana University and University of Louisville sports teams.
