Andrew G. Beshear is a Member of the firm trusted by clients in a diverse practice that includes litigation, business and finance, non-profit, environmental, and economic development work.  Andrew's litigation practice includes general litigation, administrative law, antitrust defense, environmental law and professional liability defense. He also works on complex litigation managing large-scale discovery and electronic discovery.

Andrew's business and finance work includes services ranging from general advice on corporate structure to the negotiation of multi-million dollar contracts.  In the economic development field, he works on large-scale industrial development and relocation projects, as well as a wide variety of energy projects.

Recent Assignments

  • Successfully defended international products distributor and negotiated multi-million dollar agreements between distributor and primary manufacturer
  • Challenged and secured favorable administrative rulings on multi-million dollar technology and service contracts
  • Served as trial counsel and secured favorable ruling in challenge of PSD air permit
  • Successfully defended second request hospital merger challenge by Federal Trade Commission
  • Successfully defended transportation company against arguments seeking to enlarge the scope of its insurance obligations under Kentucky law
  • Investigated and prevented litigation in multiple fatality accidents involving interstate collisions
  • Worked with team of attorneys in overturning $60 million judgment against a uranium trader and obtaining a remand to clarify a 10-year old arbitration award
  • Secured numerous summary judgment and favorable appellate rulings from 2005-2011 in contract, tort, and malpractice cases in both state and federal court
  • Assisted in successfully defending a global power against an injunction interfering with its disarmament program
  • Assisted team of attorneys in successfully securing indemnification of multi-million dollar environmental clean-up liabilities
  • Efficiently managed large-scale electronic discovery in litigation and administrative matters
  • Successfully defended professional in administrative board action accusing her of unauthorized practice

More Than Stites & Harbison

Andrew has a passion for improving the educational opportunities available to Kentucky's children and adults.  He serves on the Board of Overseers at the University of Louisville, the Board of Trustees at Spalding University, the Board of Directors for the Kentucky Governor's Scholars Program, and on the Louisville Zoo's Glacier Run Project in an effort to improve those opportunities.  He recently accepted a request to serve as co-chair of Louisville's Host Committee for the 2010 FEI World Equestrian Games, which will be the largest sporting event in the United States during 2010.  He is active in state and local politics and is an avid softball player.

Andy was selected as one of Business First of Louisville's "Forty Under 40" for 2010. The newspaper's annual listing highlights professional and business leaders who are making a significant mark on the community.
